About us

Zug International Women’s Club was started in 1967 by two Englishwomen, who instigated a regular coffee morning with a view to meeting other English-speaking women living in the Zug area. Now in its 49th year, the Club has grown to be a thriving organisation comprising more than 408 members and representing over 44 countries. The Club is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit organisation. Its primary aim is to provide a point of contact for social interaction, and to offer support, friendship and information to newcomers to Switzerland and the area. The Club is run by a board of 13, as well as several committees that organise numerous regular activities, seasonal parties, monthly contact coffees and special projects. The official language of ZIWC is English, but the diverse nationalities and backgrounds of our members bring a cosmopolitan vitality and colour to all our gatherings. Our Monthly Events Committee organises regular events, such as the monthly luncheon, and cultural and culinary excursions, as well as more physically challenging outings, such as snowshoe and ski days in winter.

The Annual Events Committee organises popular themed parties throughout the year, and the Hospitality Committee provides support for new and old members, coordinates the monthly contact coffees, hosts the annual book sale together with the Library Committee, and organises the very popular seasonal evening in November.
